About

The title for this blog came from the following excerpt of Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species. “From the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one, and that whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.”

The intention behind this blog is largely to share information that is relatively uncommon. It is also a place for me to share some of my project designs and discuss some academic philosophy, maybe even some politics. Hopefully this blog will become a useful resource for people interested in a wide range of topics; everything from making beer and backpacking to philosophy and engineering. The links I have compiled should be especially useful (or at least interesting) and I add to them frequently. I won’t promise at least one new post every month but that is my goal.

  1. Hi – I just stumbled upon your blog – looks interesting – whilst writing a little piece about the fundamentals of friction fire making … no real agenda, just felt like sharing it with folks – then found your blog on WordPress.
Best wishes and see you around!
